Overview

A large heavy rusty iron with compartment at the base to place hot coals to heat the iron, two aquatic creatures form the base of the handle, an iron rooster decorates the front. it has a hinged top and vent holes. The handle is made of wood. these iron were quite heavy, allowing them to remain hot for extended periods

the charcoal iron is a hollow metal appliance, basically a hollow metal box that was filled with coals , often cast iron with a hinged lid and vent holes. predominantly used before electricity, it was a 15th century invention that provided continuous heat compared to earlier solid "sad Irons'.
