Golf ball used on Women's Opening Day 1969

This golf ball was used by the inaugural MGGC Lady President, to play the initial golf stroke, on the very first MGGC womens’ day of golf on Thursday 8th May 1969.

The first official day of golf at the club had occurred just five days earlier on Saturday 3rd May 1969.

The Lady President’s name was Mrs Lillian Dorothy (Dot) McLachlan. The trophy is engraved Mrs N. H. McLachlan, which is presumed to be her husband's initials as was the tradition of that time.

The golf ball used was a Dunlop 65, numbered one (1), of course! The ball is a 1.62 inch diameter "small" one. The golf ball is mounted on a pedestal attached to a round plastic base. The plastic base has the plaque attached with this inscription engraved:

Initial Ball Hit by

Lady President

Mrs N. H. McLachlan

on 8th May

Opening day 1969

The attachments show the trophy, the inscription and the ball.
