Overview

Peter James Harper was born in Coventry England in 1934. He talks about his early art education and employment. He describes moving to Perth with his family in 1966 and the non-existent art scene in WA. He describes how he goes about his drawing and the processes involved and how difficult it was to get his first exhibition, along with how he came to do the Sketchup series for the Post. Peter recalls how his daughters’ diagnoses with Leukaemia and the impact of seeing many other children in ward led him to start the children’s Leukaemia and cancer research foundation and how quickly that has grown. Peter still frequently donates drawings to be sold for various charities and reflects on his life and career.
