Mary Ann Pearson (nee Blackett, 1831-1902) was the wife of Francis Watson Pearson, owner of the Hampton Hotel at Greenough.
The note has been entered by William Adlam (1845-1915) who worked as store-keeper for John S. Maley at Greenough.

This note is important because at the time of writing, not many women of similar age were literate.
