MONTHLY MEDAL
Overview
During the golf season months of March to October men compete for the Monthly Medal in the traditional monthly Saturday 18 hole stroke play round. The winner receives the medal as well as the normal competition prize.
The medal is bronze coloured, circular in shape, with a serrated edge like a coin - see attached image of a sample medal.
Interestingly, these events were initially referred to as the Monthly Mug in the fixtures book from 1972 to 1976. Subsequently the name applied was either Monthly Medal or Medal/Stroke.
