W & T Avery 2 lb Kitchen Scale
c. 1930 - 1940Set of balance scales with a long cast iron base with a central pivot. 2 brass weighing bowls are mounted on the cast iron balance beam and there is central brass fitting with a brass needle pointing to the balance point. The brass bowl that held the weights is a shallow round bowl and the other, which held the item to be weighed, is deeper and has a pouring spout. There is a circular hole on the right side of the cast iron weighing beam that would have held the item number stud which is missing. The weights are also missing.
W & T Avery Ltd. (later GEC Avery) was a British manufacturer of weighing machines. The company was founded in the early 18th century and took the name W & T Avery in 1818.
