WAGR / ST JOHN AMBULANCE MEDAL & BADGES
Medal is a 12 year Service medal presented to Mr Percival Richard Smith around 1946 He was a Guard in Mullewa then Merredin around this time Medal is embossed with image of Queen Victoria Around edge of medal no. 599 P.R.SMITH AUSTRALIA S.J.A.B 1946 . Striped ribbon with bar & silver star attached BADGE-- Star in centre Printed around edge--The St JOHN AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION .W.A.Govt Railways On back 1622 Also 2 bronse badge &18 lapel badges with dates 1937 to 1954 embossed on each Mr Smith was the father-in -law of Frank Playforth of Merredin ( His 1st wifes fathe) In the late 1800s early 1900s WAGR TRAMWAYS ,Fremantle Port Fire Brigade & St Johns operated their own Ambulance Services
