Self Clean Steam Iron

Overview

An iron with a white handle, a blue dial to control the temperature, at the top front of the handle is an orange button to turn the steam on or off, a green button to spray a jet of water. At the front of the iron is a hole and a spray jet. At the front left hand side of the handle is an orange lever and on the right hand side is a green dial. Underneath the handle is a white, orange and green label as well as a water tube running along the iron. The iron is attached to a green and white cord which has a cream electrical plug at the other end.

Historical information

The hole at the front of the iron allows water to be poured into the iron. The spray jet allows water to be sprayed from the iron.

Inscriptions and markings

Underneath the blue dial from left to right on an olive green background is "OFF/FILL", on a white background "Warmer Delicates", on an olive green background "PERM PRESS", on an orange background "STEAM WOOL COT LIN", on an olive green background "CLEAN".

Embossed on the orange button on the top of the iron is "UP FOR STEAM", the green button has a water spray symbol.

On the orange lever on the left hand side of the iron is embossed "SELF CLEAN", and on the green dial is "SPRAY" and when it is turned is "SURGE"

At the top left of the label on a white background and olive green lettering is "DELICATES START WARM INCREASE TO SUIT FABRICS", on the olive green background and white lettering is "PERM PRESS TOUCH-UP FOR BLENDS POLYESTERS SILKS RAYONS", on the orange background and white lettering is "SPRAY ON ANY SETTING SURGE OR STEAM IN ORANGE AREA". Then there are the letters "GE" in a circle, and underneath in white letterins is "SELF CLEAN 2SPRAY-SURGE STEAM SELF CLEAN".

On the stand plate of the iron is etched "AUSTRALIAN GENERAL ELECTRICAL (APPLIANCES) PTY LTD.", underneath is "NOTTING HILL VICTORIA", underneath is "1100 WATTS 240 VOLTS A.C. ONLY", underneath is "V/74206/ CAT No 0405 MODEL No FM4OPAC".

Underneath the white plastic stand is "WRAP AND REST".

On the top side of the electrical plug are the letters "GE" with a circle. On the other side is "APP CAT. 01V27108 250V 75 AMPS".
