Unframed black and white photograph of the Subiaco Municipal Brass Band. On the back it states: 'Subiaco Brass Band, Winners B Grade, Ballarat c.1926.' Left by Newton McAlinden. The members of the band were: Back row: first 5 unknown, 6. Chas McAlinden, 7. Birchmore (?), 8. Joe Palmer, 9. Jim McGann, 10. Bill Sheehan. Centre row: 1. Ted Alden, 2 and 3 not identified, 4. Chris Stonehouse, 5. Lionel Nagel, 6. Unknown, 7. Lee McAlinden. Front row: 1. Unknown, 2. Matt Dye, 3. Unknown, 4. Bandmaster Halverson, 5. Fred Idle, 6. Syd June, 7. unknown. All band members are wearing formal caps and holding brass instruments. In front of the Bandmaster are two drums.

Historical information

This photograph was held in the City of Subiaco Municipal Archives Collection and was transferred from the Subiaco Library to the Subiaco Museum in 2006. It was donated by Mr Newton McAlinden, PO Box 82, Nathalia, Vic. 3638 on 17 July 1992. Note from Newton McAlinden 'I am leaving Subiaco Band photo as you may have more use for it than I do. The frame it was in became broken.
