FRIENDSHIP CLOTH: HAND EMBRIODERED SIGNATURES, METHODIST CHURCH DERBY AND ONSLOW ROAD

Overview

Cream coloured table cloth with embroidered signatures, known as a 'Friendship Cloth'. Cotton, with linen centre 11cm. Filet crochet worked on all sides and diagonally across two opposite corners. Two remaining corners are decorated with embroidered butterflies. The names of the senior ladies of the Onslow Road / Derby Road Methodist Church Guild have been embroidered on the cloth with light orange coloured embroidery thread.

Historical information

The Derby Road Methodist Ladies Guild donated the table cloth to Subiaco Museum July 1979. It was used at meetings between 1925 and 1963. The Methodist Church stood on the Onslow Road/Derby Road corner, in Shenton Park.
