Edgar Alfred Tonkin, 1906 - 2001

Edgar Tonkin, born in 1906, came to Mundijong with his family in 1910, the family having previously lived in Jarrahdale. He was the grandson of Edward Tonkin who migrated to the Swan River Colony with Thomas Peel in 1829. Between 1927 and 1935 Edgar drove Andy Cassey's carrier truck, a Flint, with the number SJ 34. Edgar finally bought the old Flint and ran the carrier business himself. He lived to be 95 years old, had 2 sisters and 2 brothers who were also long lived.
