Portrait - Antoni Szczecinski was the son of a wealthy merchant family from Krakow in Poland. Following an uprising against the Russians in 1863 Antoni took refuge in London together with his wife Joanna Proks (nee Moranji). Joanna was a young widow with 3 daughters.Antoni was a skilled carpenter who set up his own business in London. However they emigrated to Queensland and later moved to Mundijong, WA, where Antoni built the first hotel in the town and purchased land for farming.
