MILEPOST
c. 1900Section of wooden milepost.
Found near the Hawthornden property, on Toodyay Bindi Bindi Road in Coondle, about 7.3 kilometres north of Toodyay.
It has carved lettering "N4 over P57", which represents Newcastle 4 miles, Perth 57 miles.
According to a Craftswest colonial crafts survey in 1981 it was collected by the then hon. museum curator Jenny Allen.
Newcastle was renamed Toodyay in 1910, so this post must date from before this year.
