Hat Pin Bowl

Overview

A circular cut glass bowl with a sterling silver lid which lifts off. The lid of the bowl has a fine honey comb pattern and one opposite sides are seventeen solid and transparent vertical lines that are approximately two millimetres wide, the lines increase in height from the outside.

Historical information

The item is part of a seven piece dressing table set that belonged to and was used by Lillie May Warren nee Dale, who married John Campbell Warren in 1892 in South Australia.

Inscriptions and markings

From the Silvermakers Mark website (see attached supplement) the hall marks on the comb identify the maker as "Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co Ltd", an anchor identifies the location as Birmingham, a lion passant (indicates 92.5% silver) the "G" identifies the date as 1931.
