Overview

A black and white copy of photograph showing Metters' showrooms. The title printed above the photo reads: 'The oldest and most up-to-date.' Below the picture is printed the caption: 'Our 'rented' Showrooms, corner Hay and William Streets, in 1898.' The photo shows corner building with balustrade running across the top of the façade which has a rounded corner and pilasters separating upper floor windows. Verandah running in front of both sides of the building is decorated with cast iron lace work and supported by cast iron pillars. Advertising boards above verandah read: 'Fred Metters and Co' and 'Great Western Foundry. Engineers, Iron founders, Coppersmit and & Galvanisers'. A banner displayed in the centre of the upper floor level is illegible apart from the bottom line, part of which reads: 'First Issue---.' Small building adjoins left side and advertises: 'W.A. Allanson----'.
