The photo includes evidence of the type and make of rifles used pre First World War. Each person is formally dressed wearing medallions and badges. The Hackett Shield was presented by Sir John Winthrop Hackett Sr. KCMG. Hackett was a benefactor, proprietor and editor of several newspapers in Western Australia, a politician and University of WA chancellor.
