An oral history recorded with Dot Strange, whose father built the iconic Six Mile Cottage.

Historical information

Dot Strange’s father (Dick Strange) built six mile cottage for his brother-in-law Joe Symonds. Dick was a sleeper cutter by trade. Two of Dot’s aunties also married into the Quill family and whilst Dot did not grow up here she remembers visiting Darkan to see these Aunties and for the Darkan show.
