HMAS Perth II 'Hilton' Grey Door

Overview

A grey painted door with perspex sign cover is fixed by two (2) screws above a laminated newspaper advert plus adhesive stickers at top of door. There is a hatch in the lower section. Back of door is painted white and has two (2) handing rails fixed.

Historical information

HMAS Perth (II) was decommissioned in October 1999 and gifted to the City of Albany for a recreational dive wreck; being scuttled on 24 November 2001. Prior to the scuttling, the City removed objects as part of preparing an ‘on-shore’ interpretive centre as per the agreement conditions by the State Government of Western Australia.

On front with circle sticker "JEFF'S PIRATES COVE / IPAN TALOFOFO / GUAM" and label with "PERTH HILTON". A perspex sign cover is fixed by two (2) screws with "LEUT MCMURRAY" written in black marker and small portrait photographic sticker on front. Also has a laminated Navy newspaper advert for 'Marine Engineering Officer' and 'Weapons Electrical Engineering Officer' with headline "blows any other / engineering job / out of the / water / get out there".
