He is wearing a military tunic and sash, with his medals including the Victoria Cross attached to the tunic on his left hand side.
Above his image are the words"Always to the front!" and below his image is his name. Behind his image are sprigs of leaves, held together on the left by a pink ribbon.
Field Marshal Frederick Sleigh Roberts, 1st Earl Roberts, V.C., K.G., K.P., G.C.B., O.M., G.C.S..I, G.C.I.E., V.D., P.C., F.R.S.G.S. was a British Victorian era General who became one of the most successful British military commanders of his time.
He won important victories during the Second Afghan War and revitalised the British campaign in the Boer War.
