Warren Wood was an outstanding player and servant of the game of baseball, both at a club level and as a State representative. He started playing in the late 1940s with the Wests Baseball Club and remained with the club throughout its development and changes of name. In 1955 the club was renamed West Perth and was relocated to Leederville Oval from Langley Park. In 1972 the club again relocated to Millington Reserve, and in 1976 was renamed West Stirling Baseball Club.

As a Western Australian State representative, Warren Wood was selected in three interstate Claxton Shield Championship Series; 1965 (Sydney), 1967 (Perth), 1968 (Brisbane). In 1978 Warren Wood was the first person to be awarded a life membership of the West Stirling Baseball Club.

For nearly 40 years Warren Wood has been involved in Western Australian baseball, both as a player and administrator. He played at club level, for West Perth/West Stirling Club during the 1940s, 50s, 60s and 70s, and during those later years his involvement was as a coach, manager, committee member and senior vice-president. Warren also represented his State as a player in three Claxton Shield Championship Series in the 1960s.
