Bert Dohle used this hat for much of his shooting life. He added the badges given to him or bought by him from other clubs where he competed.

Contextual Information

Rifle clubs often sold or presented club badges to members of other clubs. Shooters added the badges from other clubs to their hat to mark where they had competed and also to support those clubs. Hats are worn to prevent the sun interfering with the operation of a rifle.
