7028 Private William Leighton Boyd enlisted on 21 February 1917 and embarked from Albany on HMAT A16 Port Melbourne on 24 July 1917 aged 18. He served with 16 Battalion and returned to Australia on 12 July 1919. He served as W67116 in the Volunteer Defence Corps in World War 2.
