ELECTRICAL INSULATORS

Historical information

These insulators, made of porcelain, were placed under electrical wires to prevent the current flowing through the pole to the ground. Katanning was the first town in Western Australia to have streetlights powered by electricity. In 1904 The Flour Mill received approval to extend the supply of electricity from the Mill to businesses and homes, until it closed in 1964.
