PHOTOGRAPH: MRS ANTHONY JONES WITH BRIDESMAIDS AND FLOWERGIRL
1935The hand coloured studio portrait features a bridal group. Left to Right: Doll Meeking (pink), Val James (flowergirl, yellow), Dot Jones (bride, white), Irene Triat (green), Nan Mechan (blue). The bridesmaids wear identical dresses of long straight design with dropped waistline ending in two tiers over a deeper coloured underslip. Their elaborate head dresses and court shoes match the colour of their dress, and they each carry a large bouquet of flowers. Little Val James carries a basket of flowers with a long yellow ribbon. Dot wears a simple long white sheath dress covered by a floor length lace veil falling from her fan-shaped head dress. She carries an enormous bouquet of white flowers. The museum holds original portrait only.
