GAME: 'FIDDLESTIKS' (FIDDLE STICKS)

Overview

"Fiddlestiks" game comprising:

a) cylindrical container of cardboard, white at top and red at bottom with red, blue and cream label with name of game and small drawing of a hand playing 'Fiddlesticks'.

b) lid for above covered in red paper to match (a) with white rim.

c) 41 wooden sticks pointed at either end and each painted a variety of colours at each end - red, yellow, blue, green and black.

d) rules of the game ' Fiddle Stiks'. Made in Japan.

Historical information

The game is thought to have originated in China and has been made and played around the world under various names including pick-up sticks, pick-a-stick and jackstraws in the U.S.A.; Mikado in Europe; Spillikins or Spellicans in Britain and Canada; and Jonchets in France.
