Historical information

In 1895 the Reverend AJ Barclay held the first Methodist meeting held in the Claremont residence of Mr H Williams. The inaugural Methodist service was held in a Claremont State School building 1895.

The foundation stone of new church laid 14th November 1896 by Sir RF McMillan, Lieutenant Governor of WA. The church opened on the 25th February 1923 on the west side of Stirling Highway.

During World War I, Mr Jenkins was the minister. Associated with the church, was the West Claremont Methodist Christian Junior Endeavour which was established in 1917. The Christian Endeavour previously existed in Claremont.

On formation of Uniting Church in June 1977, services were then held in former Presbyterian Church in Princess Road.

In 1981, the church was bought by the Claremont Town Council, and after many alterations, became the Claremont Town Hall.

In January 2012, the furbished church building reopened as the Claremont Library and Community Hub to replace the library that was burnt down in 2010.
