Cyanotypes prints used ferric (iron) salts, rather than silver nitrate, and produces blue images on a white background. Forerunners of architectural blueprints. This process has the advantage of increasing permanency.

Raymond John Sharkey an architect, surveyor and amateur photographer was born in 1868 in New South Wales. Raymond was a Claremont resident when he died at an early age.
