Contextual information
A shoe anvil is a heavy metal workbench tool used to repair or finish footwear.
Designed to absorb high-impact forces. When a cobbler needs to drive a nail into a heel or press down a thick leather sole, they slide the shoe onto the anvil. The cast iron acts as a hard anvil face, automatically bending over (clenching) the nails as they pass through the leather.
