They Say What They Say
Five panels of silk screen on finely woven cotton, some include syringes, applique and machine stitching Artist Statement: The work was simulated by the rhetoric of the time about how party drugs were safe. Much like the conversation happening in the USA today, suggesting that vaping is safe. The work is a combination of screen printing, applique, and free hand machine stitchery. And, is based on design principles with precise expression using shapes and colour to convey an emotional atmosphere within the imagery, whether this is recognised within the theme of the work or addresses an individual's need, the work stands on its own merit. Language and the distortion of imagery is used to assist the viewer to see the work as a social commentary, a warning, and to support a troubled soul.
Frame: pine.
