Overview

The image features an elderly man with a white beard, dressed in formal clothing and wearing a top hat. He is carrying a Gladstone bag and an umbrella. He is standing on the path in front of the front verandah and entrance of a substantial home. The home is brick with an iron roof, and bull-nosed verandah which has elaborate ironwork underneath the guttering. There are turned timber posts and a type of terrazzo floor on the verandah. The large front room to the right of the image has bay windows with venetian blinds, which have ornamental work at the top and the sides. There are large windows on the room facing the verandah and a large timber front door with side panels. There are shrubs at the left and right foreground. On the back of the photograph are the words: 'Fred Atkins - Queenie Chugg's Grandfather. S. Chugg and Co., Grosvenor Street, Balaclava'.
