Note from Thomas Kirkup

Thomas Kirkup (1822-1890) was an unmarried shepherd convicted of stealing 21 sheep and sentenced to 14 years. He arrived in WA in 1855 on the Stag (convict no. 3400). He became a sheep farmer at Greenough, married Honora Murphy in Geraldton in 1864 and fathered 7 children.
Robert Bartram (1822-1878) was an unmarried shepherd convicted of burglary and threatening to stab a Police Officer and sentenced to 15 years. He arrived in WA in 1858 on the Lord Raglan (convict no. 4893) and worked as a shepherd.

This is the only note in the Maley Mill & Store Archives that is associated with either Thomas Kirkup or Robert Bartram. The two men had very similar starts in life, but very divergent futures.
