'Scott's Book' - biography of aviator C.W.A. Scott
1934Book entitled 'Scott's Book : The Life & Mildenhall - Melbourne Flight of C.W.A. Scott Told by Himself'.
It has light grey-blue cloth covers and a blue depiction of his De Havilland DH88 Comet along with the title, name and publisher on the spine. It is missing its dustjacket.
There is a greyscale portrait of C.W.A. Scott with a blue border on the frontispiece and fifteen other illustrations spread through the book in the same style.
At the back, there is a fold out map showing four air journeys undertaken by C.W.A. Scott, with the final one being the Centenary Air Race.
The book is a biographical account of the life of airman Charles William Anderson Scott who with co-pilot Tom Campbell-Black won the 1934 MacRobertson Centenary Air Race from London to Melbourne in their De Havilland DH88 Comet 'Grosvenor House'.
According to Museums Victoria "This publication was released just six weeks after the conclusion of the 1934 Centenary Air Race to take advantage of the publicity surrounding the event which has been described as "the greatest single sporting event in the history of flying". Charles Scott had provided a series of interviews to journalist John Leggitt who wrote them as a narrative prior to the race. The last chapter covering the race itself was then cabled back to London along with the photographs of the event included in the book."
