POSTCARD: MILITARY GROUP PORTRAIT WITH VIV JAMES

Image: The sepia photograph shows a group of four soldiers, two seated and the others standing behind their chairs. The photograph is a carte postale sent by Viv James from France to his mother and he identifies the men by name on the image: Crosby, McManus, Golly, Mansfield. Viv James sits on the left hand side. James and Mansfield are holding cigars. The men's hats are in a pile in front of the group.

Reverse: Handwritten on the back: August 13 '18. Dear Mother, Just to prove that I am still eluding Fritz, I send this card. The other chaps are with me on this job. We all came away in the Miners. One from Qld, and the other two from N.S.W. I hope that all at home are well, same as myself. This photo was taken when we went down the line one day for an outing. Viv. It is addressed to: Mrs B.P. James, Hensman Road, Subiaco, WA Sender is : 1040 V.H.J. Elect Mech, A.I.F. P.P.G
