Overview

Image from Album #2023.262
Image: A black and white photograph of Jolimont Swamp. Trees can be seen in the foreground, and a house like structure can be seen at the centre of the photograph.
A label beneath the photo reads: ' It appears that when the swamp eventually formed, houses were left stranded in the middle. The children of Jolimont would paddle their canoes through the open windows of the evacuated houses and delight in all types of water sport. It has been said that somewhere in Parliament House is a chandalier taken from the 'Mailey's evacuated two story home', which was in Jolimont Terrace completely under water.'
