PHOTOGRAPH: WEDDING PHOTO OF HORACE BANT AND ETHAL STYLES

1909
Overview

A sepia photograph, slightly larger than A4 attached to a card back. Six individuals (3 men, 3 women) are the subject of the photo, and are all formally facing the camera. The bride and groom are sitting in the centre. Picture appears to have been taken in front of a background screen, as the divide can be seen at the bottom of the photo. The scene is an out of focus scene of a large room with pillars and draping curtains, to draw attention to the people in front of it. The photo is in fine condition except some marks and signs of age. The card it is attached to is, however, severely stained and is splitting in places. The top left corner is missing, and the bottom and right sides of the card are unevenly cut. On the reverse side of the card is what appears to be a large coffee stain from the top left to centre right. There are 3 handwritten notes on the back of the card. The first in a plae brown ink reads: 'To Julia and Tom with love 24.2.1904'. The second note in blue biro reads: 'HORRACE AND ETHEL BANT'S WEDDING ABOUT 1904', written over this note is the third is a pale blue writing that adds '(nee Styles) b. 1884' above Ethel's name, 'b. 1881' above Horace's name, and below 'Subiaco Anglican Church' and the date of the wedding '17.3.1909'.
