"Bridget Jane Willoughby
(1900-1978)
Called in Religion- Sr M Gertrude. Born in Victoria in 1900. She had two sisters who joined the Sisters of Mercy in Coolgardie.
Sr Gertrude was trained in Maternity Nursing(KEMH) and Child Health. She was appointed the first Matron of the Maternity section of St Anne's at the Opening in April 1937. Anne Kalmund(Hough), the first baby, was born in July 1937.
Sr Gertrude was the first religious Maternity Nurse in Western Australia. She was a skilled administrator, bursar and financier and was highly regarded by sister, doctors and staff for her experience and wisdom." printed on the front in black wood printing
