DRESS AND JACKET: COCKTAIL, RED AND BLACK
c. 1950This cocktail dress is made of a red synthetic crepe fabric, with a black velvet surround of the neckline, black velvet buttons to the waist and a pleated black velvet insert in the front of the skirt. It has a side zipper, short sleeves, shoulder pads and pockets each side of the skirt. The accompanying jacket has long sleeves, a curved front each side going to a fastening at the neck. The black velvet collar is decorated with black beading and diamante. Dress worn by Lilian Bunning, a concert pianist, who moved in artistic circles and whose husband was an artist.
