Some nurses served as their family also enlisted. Emma's two younger brothers served, Pte Edward Skipworth WX10059 2/28th Bn, a Prisoner of War in Italy and Germany and Warrant Officer George Skipworth 427731 Royal Australian Airforce, both returned home.

Inscriptions and markings

This grey service dress jacket has three blue overseas inverted service chevrons, first authorised by an Army order in 1918, are on the lower right-hand sleeve, one for each year. Colour patches are for the 2/9th AGH and the Australian Army Medical Corps 6 Division. Australian army hospitals used a chocolate brown colour patch, superimposed with different shapes and colours.
