Overview

B/W photograph of members of the Morawa Town Brass Band in c1950. There are 19 people holding brass instruments. Seven men are seated in the front row and nine men & three boys are standing behind them. The scene is outdoors with an open field behind. Two drums, a cymbal and a beater are placed in front of the man in the middle of the front row. One seated man has a cast on his foot and a crutch on the ground next to the drums. The men are mostly wearing suits and ties.

Historical information

B/W photograph of members of the Morawa Town Brass Band in c1950. The man standing third from the left holding a euphonium is Richard Henry (Dick) SASSE and the man seated second from the right holding a trombone is Sidney Bossen POULTER. Morawa has a tradition of brass bands since the first one was formed in c1926, up until c1976. The tradition lives on through the Morawa District High School Brass Band which noted it's 60th anniversary in 2023.
