The Bunbury-Harvey school bus after it hit a pole near Waterloo on its journey to Harvey.

Historical information

The Harvey-Bunbury school bus was travelling from Bunbury in the direction of Harvey when it hit a post near Waterloo. The bus was travelling between 25-30 mph when a truck, travelling along a side road, turned onto the main road in front of the bus. The bus was forced off the road down an eighteen inch embankment, where it continued for some forty yards, before striking a telegraph pole which knocked the back and side out of the bus.

Students suffered from shock, minor cuts and abrasions. George Rose (13) was struck on the head and was taken to a private hospital in Bunbury suffering from concussion. George recovered after eight weeks in hospital.
