Glass Rolling Pin filled with Threads
Hollow glass pastry rolling pin which has been filled with threads of cotton. One end has a solid glass knob and whilst the knob at the other end is of similar shape it has a small hole to allow the user to fill the chamber with cold water.
The purpose of glass rolling pins was that they could be filled with cold/ice water to aid in rolling out particularly delicate pastry. They were popular in the latter part of the 1800's and into the 20th century.
