Letter to Miss Mitchell - Girl Guide etiquette
1945Copy of letter sent to the ??? Federal Secretary G.G. Association Australia
GOVERNMENT HOUSE
CANBERRA
April 16th, 1945.
Dear Miss Mitchell,
Thank you so much for your letter.
The procedure which is generally followed in England with regard to curtseying, saluting and shaking hands, is this;-
a. When her Royal Highness is not in uniform, the Guides,
on being presented, should shake hands and curtsey.
b. When both Her Roayl Highness and the Guides are in
uniform, they salute and shake hands and do not curtsey.
c. When presented to His Royal Highness Guides salute and
shake hands.
Guides in uniform, but without their hats, should follow the same procedure as the Services -
i.e. when not wearing a hat, curtsey and shake hands.
Yours sincerely,
(Signed) Vida Clive.
