Last photograph of John and Elsie Curtin
19451 photographic print
According to Elsie Macleod, her father John Curtin wasn’t well on the day of his 28th wedding anniversary on 21 April 1945 ‘but [the] next day he contacted Mr L.J. Dwyer, a professional photographer in Canberra, and arranged for the latter to take photographs of my parents at The Lodge’ (JCPML00653/280). Leslie Dwyer was a well-known Canberra photographer for many years. He photographed John and Elsie in the garden of the Lodge on 27 April and also took a group photograph of Curtin, Elsie, the housekeeper Jessie Pincombe, and Ray Tracey the driver.
