Historical information

A plaque that was used in a local church to demonstrate that a family had donated money. Possibly from the original Kelmscott St Mary's in the Valley Church, built in 1871 and was the first Christian church built in the district, who the Cockram family were probably a member of. They have a link to the region via their relationship by marriage to the Buckingham family. The plaque may reference Mrs Elizabeth Cockram who arrived in WA in 1850 aboard the Sofia with the Buckingham family. The plaque was purchased by the donor at an auction.
