Historical information

Crown cut-throat razor used by Oscar Edward Waldemore Bruns in Mt Lawley. Oscar Bruns arrived in Western Australia from South Australia in the early 1920s. In 1924 his marriage to his first wife Olive was dissolved by the courts in South Australia. In 1925 he married Jean Tinks in Perth, together they had two boys..

Oscar soon found work as an auctioneer and stock manager with Goldsbrough, Mort and Co Ltd, a job he held through to the 1940s.

In 1936 he purchased Wongong Farm, south of Armadale, though he never lived there or in Armadale, instead living in Mt Lawley. This though did not stop from being elected to the Armadale-Kelmscott Road Board between 1949 and 1955 and as Road Bard Chairman between 1951 and 1954. During his time on Council he was a strong advocate for the purchasing of the Minnawarra property for a future civic precinct. Council agreed to raise a loan of 6,000 pounds and purchase the property in 1954. Today the site is the home to the Council Administration building and Minnawarra Park.

Oscar passed away in 1962 age 74.
