Historical information

First Mistress Chrystabell Stephens installed a four valve wireless set in the Agricultural Science classroom. The wireless set was thought to be the first of its kind in Bunbury.

On an April Saturday in 1924, a solid thirty foot mast was erected on the lower end of the school to support a single wire aerial which stretched from the mast to the top of the tower.

It was no mean job to hoist the "toothpick" forty feet to the school roof and, in the limited space available, to make it stand up properly and securely.

The task was successfully carried out under the direction of the Science Master and radio expert, John Wishaw. The radio set seemed to work much better after the aerial was installed.
