Faded purple hard cover with gold lettering and design. On title page is the signature 'J.S. Hillman'. 341 pages, contents page. Inside is hand written letter from Robert Stephens donor, stating that book was previously the property of J.S. Hillman presumed to be the wife of Alfred Hillman or one of their children. Alfred Hillman held the office of Assistant Surveyor in Albany from 1833 until 1838. Some members of the Hillman family later resided in Albany. Robert Stephens donated the book to the Royal Western Australian Historical Society (Albany Branch).
