Bunbury Centenary Celebration Pageant

In the background onlookers are gathered in front of Repacholi Fruiterer and Confectioner and the Langlands Service Station.
The Western Australian Centenary of 1929 commemorated 100 years since the 1829 founding of the Swan River Colony, featuring major festivities like the Centenary Parade, a Sydney-to-Perth air race, and commemorative medallions struck by the Perth Mint.
Bunbury participated in the celebration during show week.
Amongst the many activities held in Bunbury, was a pageant that took place on Saturday 9th November 1929. A descendant of Mr Scott, believed to be the first Bunbury settler, headed the procession.
Mr Scott's descendant was followed by representatives of the Australind Settlement, whose members played an important part in the development of the town and district.
The Australind Settlement was followed by groups wearing period dresses representative of those worn in the district during the preceding 50 years.
The procession left from Stockley Road down Spencer, up Stephen Street to Victoria Street, down Victoria Street to Carey Street, then to Wittenoom Street, down Wittenoom Street to Eliot Street to Victoria Street, down Victoria Street turning into Wellington Street to Arthur Street, up Stephen Street to Victoria Street. The procession ended at Anzac Park, where the Mayor and other prominent citizens addressed the gathered crowd.
