The painting was a gift to Antonia Csiczak from Gillian Peebles Aitken in appreciation of Antonia's skill and the care she put into her garments.

In the bottom right hand corner in three lines of brown painted lettering is "G Aitken", "'Grandale'", "Katanning".
Information from the donor: "I wanted to share some background that may be of interest regarding the painting connected with the cottage. Antonia Csiczak who was a talented seamstress and dressmake from Holland. Her family migrated to Australia after the war.
She taught top Australian designer, Carla Zampatti to sew at a factory in North Fremantle.
She made clothing for the artist Gillian Peebles formally Aitken, and they developed a ware and respectful friendship through this work. As a gesture of appreciation for Antonia's skill and the care she put into her garments, Gillian Peebles Aitken gifted her one of her paintings. The artwork has remained with the family ever since and is a lovely reminder of the connection between the two women. Antonia was my children's grandmother or Orna. Sadly Antonia (affectionately known as Tonny) passed away on 30.11.2024."
