Situated 193 km north of Meekatharra. The party, and their three vehicles, arrived in Meekatharra after travelling from Perth by train. The 'party consisted of the Hon. Mr. McCallum, (Minister for Works), Mr. Stileman (Engineer in Chief), Mr. Lamond, M.L.A, Mr. Andrew (Secretary to Minister, Mr. de Burg (“West Australian” reporter) Messrs. Fleming, Marris and Stanes (motor drivers)'. [diary]After meeting with the Road Board, Hospital Committee and the Australian Workers Union, the party left in the two Dodges and the Rugby vehicles.Three Rivers and Ethel Creek Stations - After leaving Ethel Creek Station the party crossed the Tropic of Capricorn in the Pilbara region. They inspected the site of the proposed bridge crossing over the Fortescue River. The bridge was later built in 1929. The party sometimes had overnight stops at cattle stations, where the station owners lived extremely isolated lives.
